Chapter 30: Safe Zone
“.....”
“Ah, sorry about that.” Xiao Ya sheepishly said. “It seems like my disciple forgot it is her time today since she just started her cultivation. She just got confused.”
Of course Li Daozi and Tang Lin did not believe it. Can a girl really forget something as important as this? But they did not dare to pry anymore, for it is for her own privacy. Fang Yu then cleaned herself and her mess using her mana. As of now, she was so embarassed that she just wanted to hide again for a month.
Tang Li, who was being held by Tang Lin, saw the flustered Fang Yu. She then flew towards her. Upon reaching Fang Yu, the little Tang Li swooped behind her and hugged her neck. “Sis...sis... Sis!” Tang Li seemed to be highly pleased talking to Fang Yu. Fang Yu then realized its not because of her image, but because she possessed a Godly Divine Beast Bloodline. Tang Li instinctively felt a closeness to Fang Yu because of this.
“This means I must not let Tang Li meet Master Wang Hao! I’m not sure if that pervert will do something, but I still have to be sure!” Fang Yu swore to herself that she will protect Tang Li from the ‘dangerous’ Wang Hao.
While Fang Yu was having fun with Tang Li, Fang Lin was also having his own fun.
“Hahahahaha! This is jackpot!” Fang Lin was of course very happy. Just with that encounter, they managed to get 15 red cards and some valuable weapons and talismans. When they consumed the contents of the opponents red cards, they only noticed a slight change on their cards. The weapons looked a little better and the eggs looked a little more robust. The range of their map however, got larger as well.
Fang Lin realized that if they want to improve the quality of their cards, they need to absorb hundreds, no, thousands of red cards. That means the objective of this selection is to eliminate all groups until only 10 groups remain by the end. But if the one month deadline arrived and there are more than 10 groups remaining, the top 10 with the highest quality of cards will remain.
This means that the best strategy to pass this selection is to consume as much cards as posiible. This now serves two purposes: It eliminates the enemy, thus reducing their number and it also improves the quality of their cards which will be helpful at the endgame.
Fang Lin looked at his Wang Hao, who was busy stuffing spirit stones on his bag. “Do you plan to continue cooperating with us Master? But if you agree, we need to have more methods of ambushing our opponents. Using just rotten food will backfire.”
“Of course I still have other plans.” Wang Hao nonchalantly waved his hand. “Just remember the split: the cards and half their equipments are yours while all the money and the remaining half of the equipment are for us!”
“Deal!”
After that agreement, they immediately went to work. They continued to formulate and execute plans to ambush their poor opponents. This activity of theirs continued until only a week remained till the end of the competition. At this time, out of the around 50,000 participants, only 999 participants or 333 groups remained. Fang Lin’s group cards at this point was not what it used to be. The weapons now exuded brilliance and realness. The eggs appeared larger and if someone observed it closely, it appeared to be slightly shaking.
“Ok,” Boner said nervously to all of them. “Now that there are only 999 participants remaining, the difficulty of this selection will increase.”
“There will be additional obstacles?” Fang Yu felt this was normal considering they are nearing the climax. The start of the selection was just the foreplay.
“Well first of all, they are gonna reduce our playing area with the use of poison gas. The gas is not fatal, but those who get a whiff will immediately pass out. They will be immediately eliminated because that gas can dissolve the cards within a minute. The only way we can avoid this gas is by going on the area with no poison gas. That area is the safe zone. But as time passes by, that safe zone gets smaller and smaller until there comes a point where all the groups will be in close proximity with each other.”

“What happens next after that is an absolute clusterf**k.”
“But there is an additional obstacle.” Boner suddenly looked grim. “Stronger spirit beasts will be released upon the safe zone everyday. That means your group has to also fight it out with those beasts while avoiding other groups. Then at the last day, the interval of the release of the beasts will become per hour already. So it will be really a clusterf**k.”
Fang Lin nodded solemnly after hearing this. During this incoming week, he and his group will find it hard to encounter some hilarious moments. It will be rare. This week will be filled with danger and action-packed moments. There is that Zhou Rougue too.
“Are you sure you want to join us this time Boner? Look at my Master, he is sitting out this one. He knows that Fatty Zhou is getting suspicious of you two. Even if you survive, what do you think will happen to you back at the Spirit Kitchen? Have you really thought about it?”
“Of course I’m sure, Brother Lin. I needed to find a way to exact revenge against that Rougue bastard. I can’t wait to see Fatty Zhou’s crestfallen expression!” Upon hearing this, Fang Lin knew that he cannot stop Boner from joining them.
He then sent a disapproving look towards Wang Hao.
“What? You want me to continue here?”
“Of course master. Do you really want to abandon Boner? He did so much for us already, especially for you. Can’t you even have more sincerity?”
“Hrrrnggghhh, ok! I’ll stay on this damned place! Just make sure you breakthrough to Qi Condensation Stage before going out ok?”
“Roger Master!” Fang Lin sighed in relief. He knew that with this line-up, they have a chance of passing the selection. “Then let’s rest for now!”
They then all slept, ready for the incoming chaos tomorrow.
