Chapter 59 Gu Ping’s Plight
Did his brother actually live in a place such as this?
If Gu Ping did not say it personally, Wang Feng would not even believe that Gu Ping actually lived there. As for the location where they had studied in Zhu Hai City previously, it was not in this direction at all. So consequently, right from the start, Wang Feng did not know that such a dirty place actually existed in Zhu Hai City.
In a place not far off, tall buildings rose up straight. While by his side, there were dilapidated houses which were shabby instead. He had to say that it felt like pure irony.
Having no idea as for where No. 20 was, Wang Feng consequently took his phone out pretty quickly and called his brother.
“Brother, I am now at the entrance of the red-light district. The driver dropped me off here. Come and pick me up,” Wang Feng said and then hung up.
Soon, a young man walked towards Wang Feng from the end of the road, who in fact turned out to be Gu Ping. While staring at him, Wang Feng only felt that a lump rose to his throat and he almost shed tears.
His brother actually lived in this place. Had he not insisted on coming here today, while he lived in a villa every day, he wouldn’t know that Gu Ping was snuggling up in such a place instead. Upon thinking of this point, he was extremely disturbed.
He did know something about Gu Ping’s family. However, even though his monthly income was only at three or four thousand dollars, he could not go so far as to live in a place like this, could he?
Garbage was all over the place. Without anybody taking charge, it gave off quite the stench. It would be a strange thing instead to live here over a long period without suffering from weird diseases.
“Brother.” Staring at Gu Ping, Wang Feng walked up to him in a hurry, with a somewhat lumpy throat.
“If only you had notified me earlier when you intend to come here, I could just pick you up. I am sorry that you may feel a little embarrassed,” Gu Ping said, with shame flashing across his face.
“Let’s go to your home.” Wang Feng naturally saw the shame flashing across his brother’s face. Most probably, his arrival made his brother feel a little bad in the heart.
“Let’s go.” Gu Ping responded and then led the way.
“Is this the place where you are living now?” Looking at a bungalow which was both shabby and small before him, Wang Feng opened his eyes wide, with an incredulous look on his face.
“Yes. You think I am pretty useless, don’t you? So sorry to make myself a joke.” Seeing the astonishment on Wang Feng’s face, Gu Ping felt much more ashamed. As Wang Feng’s brother, he actually lived in a place like this, which he did not even dare to talk about.
“What the f**king shit are you talking about?” Upon hearing Gu Ping’s words, Wang Feng immediately gave out a loud roar instead, “Even if I am barely a human being now, I would definitely not laugh at my own brother’s expense. Brother, if only you had told me your situation earlier, I would definitely give you some financial help even if I was left without food or drink.”
Wang Feng’s words were pretty powerful, which made the shame showing up on Gu Ping’s face turn stronger.
“Alas.” Giving out a sigh, Gu Ping walked into the bungalow on his own and said, “Come in and have a seat.”
The appearance of the bungalow was already pretty shabby from the outside. However, when Wang Feng walked into its interior, he found out that the interior was much shabbier. There was no furniture nor household appliances in the room, except a bed. The ground which he now was stepping on also had water pools, which apparently were caused by rain leakage.
It never occurred to him that his brother was actually living in a place like this. If he had not seen it personally, he would not even believe it, even if he was beaten to death.
“Sit wherever you want. This place might be a bit shabby, but it still can house people.” Showing out a bitter smile, Gu Ping then sat first on the bed.
“Brother, be frank with me now. Is your family running into some difficulties? You tell me frankly and I will definitely give you a hand,” Sitting by Gu Pings’s side, Wang Feng asked solemnly.
As for Gu Ping’s income, however poor it was, Gu Ping would definitely not end up living in a place like this. So Wang Feng immediately guessed that perhaps some misfortune had happened to his family.
“Nothing. You don’t need to overthink. Nothing is going on with my family.” Upon hearing Wang Feng’s words, Gu Ping evaded his eyesight a bit and then directly turned his head.
Seeing this scene, Wang Feng smiled secretly. He already figured everything out.
“Brother, if you still regard me as your brother, then tell me what kinds of issues are going on in your family. If you don’t tell me, I will leave right away.” Wang Feng said and then stood up, assuming a posture to leave.
“Well, since you want to know, then I will tell you.” Gu Ping turned around at this time and gave Wang Feng a look. With sorrow appearing in his eyes, he said, “My mother is suffering from leukemia. We have used up all our family savings.”
“What?” Upon hearing Gu Ping’s words, Wang Feng was startled. Of course, he knew what kind of disease leukemia was. Leukemia could be healed; however, to heal it would cost at least more than five hundred thousand dollars. An ordinary family simply could not afford such a large amount of money.
“Then, you send your salary back home every month. And you consequently have no choice but to live in this place, don’t you?” Wang Feng said. The look on his face was already somewhat ghastly.
Such a huge issue had happened to his brother’s family and his own brother actually kept him in the dark. If he had not come here today, he definitely would not have known about it.
“Yes. I now have no way out.” Nodding and then scratching at his lowered head, Gu Ping appeared to be in a lot of pain.
Since his mother had been diagnosed with leukemia, he had used up all of their savings. However, he still could not make up for the gigantic gap. They even borrowed a lot of money by putting all sorts of things together; however, they were still far off.
If his mother had not threatened him with her death, he would have sold one of his kidneys.
He could still live on without one. But he only had a mother, who would be gone for real if she died.
“Brother, here is one million dollars. Take them first to heal auntie’s disease.” Seeing Gu Ping’s pained look, without any further words, Wang Feng directly pulled out a card.
If at previous times, he had fared more poorly than Gu Ping did, who also had no money at all. However, money was not that important at all to him now.
As long as he was willing, he could become a millionaire within one or two days.
Now he was not in lack of money, but his brother was actually forced to such an extent because of money. Upon thinking of this point, of course, without any hesitation, he took his card out.

It never occurred to him that Wang Feng actually took one million dollars out without a thought. He was staring at Wang Feng at this moment as if he were staring at a stranger.

He could tell that Gu Ping did extremely need the money. However, perhaps it was for fear of feeling embarrassed that he did not want to accept it.
“Don’t worry. Instead of giving the money to you for free, I’ll lend it to you. You can repay it in the future.” Fearing that Gu Ping would not take the money, Wang Feng added another sentence in a hurry.
Since such a huge accident had happened, it was not a pity at all to use the money. What mattered more was that it could save a person’s life.
In today’s society, it was already not a rare thing to experience difficult access to quality medical services. So if you had no money, you could only have a way out, namely waiting for death. So in no way would Wang Feng look on and see Gu Ping’s mother sitting and waiting for her death.

Wang Feng and Gu Ping directly sneaked into a small restaurant located in the red-light district.

“Then kindly wait for a moment. I will cook right away for you.” The middle-aged woman who was referred to as Aunt Cai smiled and then walked towards the kitchen’s direction.
“Brother, it seems that you’re very familiar with her, aren’t you?” Seeing the middle-aged women leaving, Wang Feng inquired.
“Yes.” Gu Ping nodded. Then with a bitter smile showing up on his face, he said, “This aunt is really a good person. During the several times when I was too poor to eat, she was always the one who gave me free meals. Otherwise, I would have died on the street earlier.”
Gu Ping spoke in a pretty relaxing manner. However, upon hearing his words, Wang Feng felt that a large stone seemed to be pressing heavily on his chest. His brother actually had been faced with a plight where he was almost starved to death on the streets.
“Brother, don’t worry. Since we two are together this time, I won’t let such kind of situation happen to you again.” Wang Feng said with a firm tone.
“Alright. Let us stop talking about this today. Let’s take the wine out and have a good drink.” Gu Ping smiled and then opened the box containing the red wine which Wang Feng had brought over.
However, After he had opened the box, he was at a loss. His body was completely rigid.
“What’s wrong?” Seeing his brother changing his face all of a sudden, Wang Feng also asked, confused.
“Wang Feng, do you know which wine you have brought over?” Gu Ping lifted his head up and gave Gu Ping a look, with a somewhat astonished look on his face.
“I have no idea.” Casting a glimpse at the red wine inside the box, Wang Feng did have no idea which wine it was.
As for red wine, he did not have knowledge of it. The wine which he drank most frequently was also the ordinary white wine. As for red wine, it was for the high-end people. He rarely drank it previously.
“You really don’t know?” Gu Ping asked again.
“Yes. It was given by Bei Yunxue, who told me to bring it over.” Shaking his head, Wang Feng was a bit speechless, after Gu Ping’s reaction. Wasn’t it the ordinary red wine? What was so shocking about it?
