Chapter 33: The Monster Miguel
[Wing Dive] was supposed to be a powerful attack of bird type beasts. The bird would use the momentum from the dive and cut their opponents with their wings sharpened like a blade.
Erika was also very proud of herself when she learned this skill for the first time. She even managed to defeat her classmate with it in one strike.
Unfortunately, she was destined to be disappointed this time due to her mistakes.
Instead of cutting through the still active [Rock Hard], the Red Sparrow ended up just slamming itself to the Volcanic Tortoise’s shell.
[Rock Hard] was a very good defensive skill. The Volcanic Tortoises prided themselves with their impregnable defense and fraudulent self-healing ability.
However, this same healing ability was now being used as an offensive skill by Miguel.
The moment the Fire Sparrow slammed itself on the Volcanic Tortoise’s shell, its feather was immediately burned by the hot lava flowing on the cracks. Slamming itself towards the rock hard shell was already pretty damaging enough, how much more if it was paired by hot flowing lava?
Miguel smiled in satisfaction as he saw the Red Sparrow bouncing a few meters away from the Volcanic Tortoise. It was no longer moving but Miguel knew that it was still alive.
Using the [Lava Heal] indeed allowed him to damage the opponent through direct contact. This confirms his guess that skills were not limited to their description and uses. They can be used outside of their description as long as they found the correct way to do it.
A healing and defensive skill like [Rock Hard] and [Lava Heal] can actually be combined to form a new set of skill effects. Miguel took note of this for future references.
On the other hand, Erika was obviously worried about the well-being of her contracted beast. The absolute shield flickered a bit before she hurriedly retracted it as she made her way towards the Red Sparrow worriedly.
Miguel also did the same as he went forward as well.
The battle was brief yet it allowed Miguel to glimpse the battle style of summoners of this world. Although others might have different styles than Erika, it was still a valuable experience for him that he can refer to for future battles.
"Is it alright?" Miguel asked.
Erika nodded her head with a sigh, "Yes. It just fainted from that self destructing action."
She realized and admitted that her course of action was indeed just like a suicidal attack. Even without the lava coating the tortoise’s shell, she reckoned that the result would still be the same with her Red Sparrow smashing itself to the rock hard shell of the tortoise.
She realized the shortcoming of [Wing Dive] through this battle as well. She sighed as she felt that she had not enjoyed the glory of learning the [Wing Dive] enough before she learned of its disadvantage.
She unsummoned the Red Sparrow and allowed it to rest inside her Bronze Grade grimoire.
At this moment, Marcel also went forward beside the two of them. He looked at Miguel as if he was looking at a monster.
Although the Volcanic Tortoise has already learned the three skills it used earlier due to the times he trained with it, Miguel being able to use them perfectly during a battle was still another matter. This was very incomprehensible for Marcel.
Even when a summoner contracted a Beast, they would not automatically learn the beast skills on the get go, much less be able to execute it aside from the beasts Innate Skills, if they have any.

Coupled with the fact that he knew that this was not his real strength, Marcel did not know what to say anymore.
However, he felt happy that he made the right choice a few days ago.
"Right Miguel, the Volcanic Tortoises are beasts commonly found near the mouth of an active volcano. I found this Volcanic Tortoise when it was just an egg and contracted it after it hatched. The Volcanic Tortoises are mostly Bronze Grades but there were reports about them reaching Silver Grade. "
"I have only fed it volcanic stones before it ranked up from Ordinary Grade Rock Tortoise to Bronze Grade Volcanic Tortoise, so if you truly want to nurture this one, take note of resources that involves volcano and fire, it might be able to evolve and rank up its grade to Silver Grade that way," Marcel stated.
The only reason why he decided to contract with a Rock Tortoise before was due to the legend that it can reach Silver Grade. No one has proven this fact yet and he wanted to be the first. However, it was already very hard upgrading this beast to Bronze Grade, he reckoned that upgrading to Silver Grade would even be difficult.
This was also the reason why he did not feel anything when he decided to give this beast to Miguel. He has already given up the idea about its legend. However, maybe this would be realized in the hands of this monster Miguel. Marcel looked forward to that day.
Hearing that, Miguel nodded his head in understanding.
In truth he was already aware of this fact.
